The Mayor of Rochester MN receives an annual salary of $37,657. In addition she can use City “discretionary” funds if she attends a public event and it is free. Yes free. The mayor has no expense account. Why would anyone want to be Mayor?
Southeast Minnesota family pork farmers make $27,739 annually; family bean farmers make $30,650 and the dairy farmer’s annual income is $14,697. At least 80 hours a week puts the hourly rate for a dairy farmer at about $3.50 an hour. No expense account either. Fortunately their children get free lunches in school thanks to Democratic government subsidized programs. Unfortunately many of their children don’t have health insurance and can’t use Mayo Clinics. Why would anyone want to be a farmer?
But many farmers voted for the current President resulting in BIG AG squashing the family farmer. In the Southeast there are few Democratic Minnesota State House members … very few. And most of the state’s southern senators are Republican. The Southeast has a federal Republican House Representative whose voting record is 100% Trump.
As our State continues to needlessly prop up Mayo with taxpayer cash (over 600 million in recent years) the numerous CEOs’ annual salaries continue to climb into millions of dollars each … annually. High salaries along with huge expense accounts help subsidize their trips to Mar- a- Lago. Housing is so expensive in the Southeast lower income Mayo employees are living in what are called camps … houses full of bedrooms.
A family medical leave bill won’t get a hearing in the Republican Minnesota Senate. MN Care is on its death bed if the 2% provider tax is allowed to expire as proposed by the MN Republican Senate. What are we doing? It looks like a bill to end wage theft is floundering. Things are so goofy at the Capital that a group of Democrats calling themselves the “Senate Committee on Banned Bills” has been formed.
And finally … climate: Yes readers our climate continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate. It has been computed that every day, because of global warming, Minnesota drifts 315 feet south. Note I said every day! It won’t be long before Southeast Minnesota is in Iowa. That’s a scary thought. Sure things like solar farms and the wind farms in the Southeast help. There are many different entities dealing with climate change. Be careful of what and who you support. The truth is a cultural change is needed.
