The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute and the Minnesota AFL-CIO will host a 3-day union member organizer training in St. Paul MN, June 8, 9 and 10. The purpose of this training is to equip member activists and member organizers with basic organizing skills. If you are looking to train member activists to work on internal or external organizing campaigns, we encourage you to send your members to the training.

• How to move workers to take action
• Leadership identification and development
• Basic elements of an internal/external union organizing campaign
When does the Training Begin?
The training will begin on Friday, June 8 at 10:30am and end on Sunday, June 10 at 12 noon.
What is the fee to sponsor a participant?/What does the fee cover?
The fee to sponsor a member/participant is $125 per participant (includes training materials and the costs of meals for the weekend). Any costs for hotel overnight stays, lost time, parking or participant travel to/from the training, is the responsibility of the sponsoring union.
Who can send participants to this training?
Unions, State Federations and Central Labor Councils affiliated with the National AFL-CIO are welcome to sponsor members to this training.
How do we sponsor participants?
All participants must be pre-registered for the training with the attached sponsorship form. No walk-in registrations will be accepted. All fees must be paid by the start of the training, unless other arrangements are made in advance. We are not able to accept personal checks.
Checks should be made payable to the AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer.

What happens after we submit payment and sponsorship forms?
Registered participants will receive a training packet (training agenda, training materials and logistical information). Packets are sent about a week before the training date.
Where will the training be held? What about Hotel accommodations?
The training will be held at the Minnesota State AFL-CIO, 175 Aurora Ave, St. Paul MN 55103. Hotel rooms will be available at a special rate. Free parking is provided at the AFL-CIO office.
