The Minnesota AFL-CIO and members of our affiliated unions fight for pro-worker laws and push back against any attack on our rights or livelihoods. Minnesota is moving in the right direction, and we made historic gains for workers in 2023 and 2024. It’s up to the Labor Movement to defend that progress and continue moving towards becoming the best state for working people.

Protect Working Minnesotans

  • Increase worker compensation benefits with inflation & increase penalties for non-payment.
  • Monitor the Paid Leave program’s rollout and defend it from rollbacks.
  • Fight gig company proposals permanently misclassify workers as independent contractors.
  • Defeat any efforts to weaken other labor rights and standards

Infrastructure Bonding Bill

From roads, bridges, public buildings, water treatment, and more – there is critical infrastructure across our state that needs improvement. Every dollar we spend on infrastructure keeps tradespeople working, who in turn spend money in their communities. Investing in infrastructure should be a priority for lawmakers from every corner of our state. Take Action on Infrastructure Now!

Unemployment Insurance for Workers on Strike

Even though unemployment insurance doesn't come anywhere near a livable income, striking workers should still be able to meet the bare minimum of family expenses until they return to work. Our nation’s labor laws are heavily skewed in favor of employers – who can temporarily replace workers, stall negotiations, make threats, or cut off healthcare. Access to unemployment insurance would help balance the scales between workers and management.
