Jarso Wario knows how to change things for the better. A UNITE HERE Local 17 member for four and a half years, Jarso works for SkyChefs and sits on the National Organizing Committee to organize other SkyChefs throughout the country. He is proud to be release staff for Labor 2010 with the St. Paul Regional Labor Federation working to elect Mark Dayton for Governor.

Jarso started working for SkyChefs in 2006 and instantly had a knack for listening and talking with workers. He knew that something wasn’t right and said, “We have to change something!” A few years later he finds himself in a leadership position on the organizing committee. His gift of listening and talking with workers is clear when he steps to the doors with Labor 2010 program. He has been knocking since mid-September with the Labor Federation as release staff.

In fact, Jarso is no stranger when it comes to political work. He was active with his union in the 2008 historic elections as well.

Like many Minnesotans, Jarso describes himself as a family man. He has a family of six and believes that the policies that the state puts in place have to support working families. That’s why he supports Mark Dayton for governor. “Mark makes sense for families. From jobs, schools, feeding our kids, to health care, his leadership will help make Minnesotans grow.”

Less than a week out, volunteers like Jarso and others keep plugging away at the doors, phoning member –to-member, and helping to get out the vote however they can. President Obama’s words during a special conference call with AFL-CIO President Trumka on Tuesday night to union members throughout the country provided the spark that helped Jarso’s fire to keep going. What’s your spark that will keep you going  to November 2?
