Governor Should Veto Voter Suppression Bill

As the Legislature sent a voter suppression bill to Governor Dayton, Minnesota AFL-CIO President Shar Knutson issued the following statement:

“Minnesota’s election system and voter turnout are the envy of the nation.

“This bill virtually does away with same-day voter registration, a backbone of Minnesota’s elections and our strong voter turnout.

“This is an unnecessary bill that only makes it harder for eligible voters to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

“We urge Governor Dayton to veto the Voter Suppression Bill.”
