Nurses employed by Allina Health will rally Saturday as they go into contract negotiations.
Other nurses and supporters are expected to participate in the solidarity rally that will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Ramada Plaza, 330 Industrial Boulevard , Minneapolis. The rally is organized by the Minnesota Nurses Association.
"Show your support for Allina nurses, who are in the only metro hospital system to not engage in wage-only negotiations this year," the MNA said in announcing the rally.
Some 6,000 nurses represented by the MNA ratified a new, three-year contract last month with five of the six hospital systems, which operate Fairview Southdale and Riverside facilities, Children's Minneapolis and St. Paul hospitals, Methodist, North Memorial Medical Center, and HealthEast's Bethesda, St. Joseph's, and St. John's hospitals.
The settlement was reached after the five hospital systems and the union agreed to carry over all contract provisions and negotiate only on wages. Allina hospital management refused to engage in wage-only negotiations.
Some 6,000 nurses work at Allina hospitals, the union said.
