Labor 2010 Volunteer Spotlight: Stan Green

“It’s the people that make it worth it,” says Stan Green of his Labor 2010 volunteer experience. As current release staff from ATU Local 1005, Stan is the go-to main guy for phone banks at the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation.

This mechanic for ATU knows how to keep things running on the streets and in his union. A union member for over 20 years, Stan has worked for Jefferson Bus Lines and currently for Metro Transit in the East Metro. He is seen as a natural leader for conflict resolution amongst his peers. In fact, Stan stepped it up a notch this year by being on the safety committee at work, going and talking with co-workers about safety on the job. His steward noticed his leadership skills and asked him if he would like to work on Labor 2010. The rest is history.

Stan’s people skills transfer over to being on the phones. He is happy to talk to union voters about Mark Dayton, “I tell them Mark is pro-jobs and working class families. I know he is transit friendly and that means good things for transit employees and our communities.” Of the Labor 2010 experience, Stan notes, “This has been the greatest experience for me. A highlight was the October 2 One Nation door knock and I got to meet Rep. Keith Ellison.”
