Thompson Would Bring Scott Walker-Style Politics to Minnesota

Minnesota AFL-CIO President Shar Knutson issued the comments on State Senator Dave Thompson’s entry into the Governor’s race: 

“If you asked anyone in Minnesota’s Labor movement to identify a politician in our state who best resembles Scott Walker-style politics, they would point to Dave Thompson.

Since entering the State Senate, Dave Thompson has made eroding Minnesotan's rights at the workplace, wages, and benefits his top priority. From attempting to weaken collective bargaining rights to championing an unsafe, unfair, and unnecessary “right to work” amendment; Dave Thompson has repeatedly tried and failed to turn Minnesota into Scott Walker’s Wisconsin.

Minnesotans only need to look across our eastern border to see what a Dave Thompson Governorship would mean for middle class families and communities; higher unemployment, one of only four states with a shrinking economy, 44th in private sector job growth, and named by Forbes Magazine as one of the worst states to do business.

Minnesota’s economy is finally moving in the right direction, middle class families don’t need Dave Thompson or any of the other GOP candidates to take us back to gridlock, government shutdowns, and failed policies.
