Union members stood with communities of faith, advocacy organizations and people of conscience on Thursday, February 4th at the Save GAMC Rally at the Capitol. People rallied to urge Governor Pawlenty to reverse the unallotment that slashes health care for 85, 000 of the state's poorest and sickest residents.

Roughly 50 people gathered on the steps of the St. Louis County building on Wednesday to call on Governor Pawlenty to reinstate funding for General Assistance Medical Care. Speakers included GAMC recipient Trixie , Registered Nurse and MNA member Mary Beth Boyton, St. Louis County Commissioner Steve O'Neil, and Duluth Mayor Don Ness.

On January 20th, Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis announced nearly $190 million in green jobs training grants. Of this amount, Minnesota’s State Energy Sector Partnership in association with the Governor’s Workforce Development Council and DEED was awarded $6 million. With the help of several labor partners in the Partnership, we secured strong labor language as well as a part-time labor liaison position to help with the competitive grant writing process.
