"Better in a Union" Toolkit

In unstable times like we face today, a worker’s union can be a source of stability and confidence for themselves and their families. When workers have a strong union identity and can count on their brothers, sisters, and siblings to have their backs, they know they are never alone.
This toolkit is a way to take that concept a step further. We want Minnesota’s union members to know they are part of the larger Labor Movement in their state and nation. By learning they are part of the Minnesota AFL-CIO with hundreds of thousands of their fellow union members, we hope to remind members how much we have in common to help build a sense of solidarity, especially in the face of the many attempts to divide us based on what we look like, where we come from, where we live, or what we do for a living.
This toolkit would not have been possible without the strong support of Minnesota’s union leaders, members of the Minnesota AFL-CIO Committee on Racial & Economic Justice, our team of Regional Organizers who organized listening sessions throughout the state, Field Director Haylee Hilton, and Local Training Specialist Robyn Gulley.
We hope you and your members will find this toolkit useful to increase union identity and solidarity. We also hope to hear back from you to learn how we can continue to grow our Labor Movement and make Minnesota the best state for working people.
