Jobs Plan Sets the Right Tone for 2012 Session

Minnesota AFL-CIO President Shar Knutson praised the job creation proposal Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and legislative Democrats offered today.

“Creating more job opportunities and incentives is the best thing state government can do for struggling middle class families and the tens of thousands of Minnesotans desperately looking for work,” said Knutson. “Governor Dayton, Senator Bakk, and Representative Thissen recognize that Minnesotans want job creation to be a top priority in the 2012 legislative session.”

The proposal, which combines tax incentives for hiring out of work Minnesotans and significant infrastructure investments, will put more than 35,000 people back to work.

“Minnesota’s economy won’t fully recover until more people are back at work earning a pay check,” added Knutson. “We hope to see this and other policy initiatives aimed at protecting and growing the middle class come out of this year’s session.
