Stop Voter Suppression!

Over the past year we’ve seen unprecedented attacks on voting rights across the country.  Unfortunately, the same type of irresponsible legislating that is happening all over our country is on the move right here in Minnesota. Instead of focusing on creating jobs and improving our economy, our legislature is attempting to pass a bill that will create barriers to voting for all Minnesotans.

Minnesota’s legislature is currently considering an extreme amendment to our State Constitution that would require a photo ID with a current home address to vote.  This voter suppression amendment would make it especially difficult for those who have recently moved, senior citizens, students and people of color to have their voices heard at the ballot box. And, in a state with the highest voter turnout in the nation – it’s not just wrong – it’s un-Minnesotan!

The voter suppression bill is going to be heard in committee at the legislature this Wednesday, February 1st at 1:00 pm. We need to have a big and visible presence from Minnesotans who oppose this corporate agenda aimed at silencing the 99%. Will you join us?

A constitutional amendment that creates barriers to voting strikes at the core of what it means to be We the People. Make sure the legislature knows you stand against any amendment that requires a photo ID to vote by joining us at the Capitol, Room 15, at 1:00 pm on Wednesday!

Can’t make it on Wednesday or want to send a message in advance to your representative? Follow this link to send an e-mail to your legislators, telling them you will vote no to voter suppression and asking them to do the same!
